How do commissions work?
Commissioning me for a project is simple and easy. There are many ways to reach out to me. You could fill out a contact form here, shoot me an email, text me, whatever works for you.
My work doesn’t have any cooperate hurdles to jump though. When you commission me for work, you are simply asking for one-on-one assistance.
Think of it as asking your online neighbor for a favor.

How much do you charge?
All projects have complexity-based prices. Some projects may need malleable prices such as software development but in general, what you are quoted is what you pay.
Different scope sizes have different prices, such as different website designs. If you want a simple newsletter website, then the price will only be about $50. If you want a website that can handle Ecommerce or appointment booking, that will run you about $400.
Quotes are based on complexity.

Do you have any references?
All clients that have been added to my site / have allowed me to add their contact information serve as my references. If you are looking for a more specific, detailed list, feel free to contact me here, or reach out to me via any of the contact info on my site.

Do you do more than just digital services?
Currently, I primarily focus on my remote / digital services, however if you are within my local area I would be happy to assist in other jobs such as computer hardware set up and basic network configuration.
-
Do you use any third party services?
Like anyone in my field, the use of third-party services is difficult to avoid completely. Many of the projects I do are soley from my end, but things such as web design and web hosting are supported by third party services. You can always ask what, if any, third party services I will use for your project and go over them in detail.

Is there anything I need to know before commissioning a website?
There isn’t too much to know on the client side of things, however there is one thing I should note: If you collect data of ANY kind on a website via form or other methods, you are required by law to have a privacy policy. Fortunately, I have a template I can use on your site already.

How do taxes work for online stores?
Website taxes are somewhat convoluted as you are dealing with multiple states and in some cases multiple nations all on the same platform. This is one of the reasons I use third party services like Avalara. Avalara, and many other built-in apps to a site, calculate sales tax for you. Come tax time, you’ll know exactly what to report.
Note that some automatic tax calculators require you to make an account for their service.

Do I own the commissions I request?
This is one of the most common tropes when it comes to online commissions, there is always the catch of “you can use it, but I own it.
Well, that’s not how I like to do business. Bluntly, you have the option to own the project 100%. This mainly pertains to websites.
I let clients choose between two options
1) You create an account with the website host, then I give you complete control over the website. You would then pay the monthly or yearly fees of the third party.
2) You make me the website’s admin and pay me a monthly fee. This option means I will make changes at any time to the website upon your request.
